The beginningEl principio

A family believed in this side of Puerto Escondido when almost no one else did.Una familia creyó en este lado de Puerto Escondido cuando casi nadie más lo hacía.

Fifteen years ago, La Barra was quiet. There was the river, the long empty beach, and very little else. What grew here was never planned as a development. It began with one home to live in, and it grew the way a family grows: slowly, and for reasons that were never only commercial.Hace quince años, La Barra era un lugar tranquilo. Estaban el río, la playa larga y vacía, y poco más. Lo que creció aquí nunca se planeó como un desarrollo. Empezó con una casa para vivir, y creció como crece una familia: despacio, y por razones que nunca fueron solo comerciales.

Raíz was the very first home we built to live in La Barra. It was our family home for several years, where our family grew and where we witnessed the birth of both our son and this project. Casa Nova came next, the seed the rest of the land grew around. Then the homes of the Alebrijes collection, the gardens, the paths, the farm, and the spaces we share. Years later, when the names arrived in a single night, the first house we ever built turned out to be the one called root.Raíz fue la primera casa que construimos para vivir en La Barra. Fue nuestro hogar familiar durante varios años, donde nuestra familia creció y donde vimos nacer tanto a nuestro hijo como a este proyecto. Después llegó Casa Nova, la semilla alrededor de la cual creció el resto de la tierra. Luego las casas de la colección Alebrijes, los jardines, los caminos, la granja, y los espacios que compartimos. Años después, cuando los nombres llegaron en una sola noche, la primera casa que construimos resultó ser la que se llamaba raíz.

We are Arianna and Stéphane, the couple who dreamed up this place and still live on it. We shaped every home here, we know each corner, and a small team we trust helps us care for it all, quietly and with real warmth. Between us and the team, we speak Spanish, English, and French.Somos Arianna y Stéphane, la pareja que soñó este lugar y todavía vive en él. Arianna

I was born in Michoacán, but a part of me always belonged to Puerto Escondido. My family came here on vacation all through my childhood, and in 2006 I made it home for good. I studied business, fell in love with hospitality, and spent ten years at El Cafecito, one of the town's most loved restaurants. It taught me that welcoming someone is about far more than service.Nací en Michoacán, pero una parte de mí siempre perteneció a Puerto Escondido. Mi familia venía de vacaciones aquí durante toda mi infancia, y en 2006 lo hice mi hogar para siempre. Estudié administración, me enamoré de la hospitalidad, y pasé diez años en El Cafecito, uno de los restaurantes más queridos del pueblo. Ahí aprendí que recibir a alguien es mucho más que un servicio.

I met Stéphane in those early years, and together we found La Barra when it was still peanut fields and open coast. We built our family home first, then Casa Nova, and the rest grew from there. Today I look after the daily life of Tierra en Armonía: the operations, the details, and the feeling that everyone who arrives is truly at home.Conocí a Stéphane en esos primeros años, y juntos encontramos La Barra cuando aún eran campos de cacahuate y costa abierta. Primero construimos nuestra casa familiar, luego Casa Nova, y lo demás creció desde ahí. Hoy cuido la vida diaria de Tierra en Armonía: la operación, los detalles, y la sensación de que quien llega está de verdad en casa.

Stéphane

I grew up in France, between Paris and the Centre, with a background in sport and in renovating properties. In 2006 I moved to Mexico, and it quickly became home. Here I met Arianna, we married in 2011, and our son Paolo was born in 2013. He is now one of Puerto Escondido's promising young surfers, and much of our life moves with his.Crecí en Francia, entre París y la región Centro, con una formación en deporte y en la renovación de propiedades. En 2006 me mudé a México, y pronto se volvió mi hogar. Aquí conocí a Arianna, nos casamos en 2011, y nuestro hijo Paolo nació en 2013. Hoy es uno de los jóvenes surfistas prometedores de Puerto Escondido, y buena parte de nuestra vida se mueve con la suya.

I began Tierra en Armonía in 2010. What started as a single house slowly became a collection of homes I designed myself. I am not a trained architect, just a self-taught one, in love with spaces that blend into the nature around them. That is the whole philosophy of this place: somewhere to slow down, reconnect, and hold the memory long after you leave.Comencé Tierra en Armonía en 2010. Lo que empezó como una sola casa se volvió poco a poco una colección de casas que diseñé yo mismo. No soy arquitecto de formación, solo autodidacta, enamorado de los espacios que se funden con la naturaleza que los rodea. Esa es toda la filosofía de este lugar: un sitio para bajar el ritmo, reconectar, y guardar el recuerdo mucho después de irte.
